3D printing service
If you would like to request a quote, please email us the 3D model and specify the following properties:
- Material and color
- Filling
- Wall thickness
- Layer thickness
We will contact you as soon as possible.
Below you will find more information about 3D printing with FDM and the delivery specifications. If you have any questions, we will be happy to answer them.
3D printing technique: Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM)
We print your model using Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). FDM is a 3D printing technology in which a product is built up layer by layer by extruding a thermoplastic material via a certain path.
Material
We can print your model in a range of materials and colours.
- PLA
- PETG
- ABS
- ASA
- PA (nylon)
- PA-CF (carbon fiber reinforced nylon)
Filling
FDM offers various options for filling the inside of the product (infill):
- light (<20%)
- medium (20-50%)
- heavy (>50%)
More filling means a stronger, but also more expensive product. Another factor that is important for strength is the wall thickness.
Wall thickness
The wall thickness of a 3D print largely determines the strength of the product. For functional products that need to be strong, we recommend a slightly higher wall thickness. Also if a product still needs to be post-processed, a larger wall thickness allows for this better. Especially if there are bolt holes in a product, it is advisable to choose a higher wall thickness, so that, for example, the entire bearing surface of a ring is solid. We offer the following (standard) wall thicknesses, any deviations are possible in consultation:
- 0.8 mm (standard)
- 1.6 mm (strong)
- 3.2 mm (extra strong)
Layer thickness
In FDM, layer thickness refers to the height of each layer that is added. Layer thickness therefore has a direct influence on the appearance, properties and printing time of the component. With a larger layer thickness, the layers are more visible in the final product, but also fewer layers are needed to build up the product and the printing time will be shorter. A smaller layer thickness provides more detail, but the printing time increases significantly. The layer thicknesses we offer are:
- 0.1 mm (fine)
- 0.2 mm (standard)
- 0.3 mm (economy)
Delivery specifications 3D printing
If you want to have something 3D printed, you can do this using 3 file types: STEP, 3mf and stl. Using these files, we can quickly calculate a quote for you.
To ensure a smooth process, we do have a number of delivery specifications.
Delivery specification STEP/3mf/stl
- 1 part or composition per file
- You are responsible for building the model correctly for 3D printing
- If it is not possible to print the model as supplied, you will be notified.
Allowed dimensions
- Minimum size in consultation
- Maximum size lxwxh: 350x350x350 mm
- In consultation it is possible to exceed these dimensions unilaterally, as long as the whole fits within the building volume of 350x350x350 mm
- Minimum wall thickness: 0.8 mm
- Minimum hole size: 1.0 mm
